Energy initiative solves long term problems

As the energy initiative continues to cut down on energy consumption, some problems can turn into long term projects as a solution is sought.
During the winter months, the loading docks on the direction side of the building are often a source of frustration for school administrators and energy coordinator Tim Sturgeon. Each time a delivery is made, the doors open up, staying open for the time it takes a delivery to be made. Throughout this process, cold air sweeps in, not only lowering the temperature in the surrounding hallways, but also sucking out heat.
Now, in order to solve this problem, administrators are collaborating with Sturgeon and energy engineers. According to Principal Annetta Petty, two options have been discussed: one, plastic air curtains at the loading docks themselves, and two, a set of double doors that would close off the hallway housing the loading docks. Both solutions would keep cold air from entering the rest of the school, but plans for either are still tentative.
One problem already solved involved the main office and cold air being let in from the front doors. Inserts were installed so the doors on the front desks would come down halfway to keep heat in.
