Photo courtesy of www.myspace.com/priscillarenea. Oh so politically incorrect Bo Burnham, infamously whiny, Britney-lovin’ Chris Crocker, ’80s phenomenon Rick Astley — they’re all YouTube stars.  Rising through the ranks of unknown users, they’ve wheedled their way onto our computer screens.  Joining the queue is lovably quirky singer-songwriter Priscilla Renea, a hugely successful poster whose channel (an online profile of sorts) has chalked up well over a million views. Her overwhelming online success led to the release of her debut EP Hello My Apple, featuring... Read more

Tips for future science fair participants

These steps are as easy as 1, 2, 3 if a student wants to make the best out of a project for either a science honors class, a scholarship opportunity, or just for fun. The winners at NHS, junior Jake Elkin, and winner at Regionals and State, junior Jonathon Nance, agree these steps will help any student in making a satisfactory science fair project.   1. Start early, in order to have enough time to develop ideas. 2. Be original. The judges will look for creativity and it would be no use if you stole an idea out of a book or off the internet. 3. Do not procrastinate and wait until the very last... Read more

We is gangstas

Nobletucky. Our sweet little town nestled between Westfield, Carmel, and other nice lively towns with beautiful old houses and brick roads.  This is a dandy town where skinny soccer moms are galore and seen roaming the town square and shopping at boutiques.  These moms who, without thought, give their precious children credit cards. This is what I see in Noblesville. According to www.forbes.com, Noblesville is one of the best places to live in America.  Yes, this is true; it is a great place to raise a family and has considerably low crime rates.  Bundles of activities are held and parades... Read more

Ear to the Ground: Schuyler Fisk

Indie folk singer Schuyler Fisk released her first album The Good Stuff in early 2009. I admit I’m a sucker for a good acoustic song. But these days, there are so many of these artists that they all start to sound the same and it’s hard to find someone whose music is extraordinary enough that I’ll listen all the way through the CD. I don’t exactly remember how I fell into the lap of Schuyler Fisk’s music. It was somewhere in between stalking her IMDb page after watching her in the mediocre 1995 film The Babysitters’ Club Movie and hearing that my friend was a fan of hers. I knew she... Read more

Senior Jennifer Robertson may get her 15 minutes of fame Sunday May 17 with the airing of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition finale at 8 p.m. The show finishes the season building a home in Indianapolis, where Robertson volunteered on the worksite. She cited three places where viewers might catch a glimpse of her on their television sets: 1) One of the designers, Michael, explains to the camera that they were putting bricking on the house and Robertson was in the background handing bricks to other volunteers for background movement. “They shoot everything three times, so we had to hand these... Read more

“Put together one house, a deserving family, several opinionated designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” ABC Television Network pitches for its hit Sunday night show. Add 4,200 Indianapolis area volunteers and you’ve got the season finale of the television show, shot in the downtown Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood March 28 through April 4. Senior Jennifer Robertson watches the show whenever she can win her family TV battle, so when she saw volunteer opportunities available for the Indianapolis finale while watching the news, she jumped... Read more

Mat Ball game raises money towards community

Thursday April 30 the Key Club organized a mat ball game to help raise money towards those less fortunate in our community.  Students were charged five dollars to play, and students who wished to watch were charged three dollars.  What seemed to draw most students into the game was the prospect of playing against their teachers. In previous years it had always been a student versus faculty basketball game.  “We played mat ball this year instead of basketball because it was time for a change of pace,” said sponsor Mrs. Vinton.  Vinton has been a sponsor for the past two years. In total the... Read more
