On Saturday, choir department students traveled to Westfield to participate in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Solo and Ensemble competition.
Sophomores Ainee Jeong, Ashley Carmany, and Michael Tottty performed a piano solo and each received gold medals. Totty earned a rare perfect score.
Senior Emily Goggin, sophomore Molly Grooms, senior Wilson Smith, sophomore Hannah Pimley, and freshman Mariah Smith, who all performed vocal solos, received gold medals for their efforts. Sophomores Ashley Carmany and Emma Burroughs received silver medals
Goggin, Smith, Grooms, and Totty will represent Noblesville High School on February 20 in the state-wide level of Solo and Ensemble at Perry Meridian High School.
An estimated 200,000 students throughout the state participate in Solo and Ensemble each year.
ISSMA also sponsors an annual marching band, jazz band, and show choir competition.
The organization works “to provide educationally evaluated music performance activities for the students and teachers of the State of Indiana, to assist in the development of performance oriented assessment of state and national musical academic standards, and to offer educational support to fulfill this mission,” according to their website.
