After receiving a fat check for Christmas this past holiday season, I decided to use my new found wealth to get a new iPod. I already had an iPod that I got for Christmas 4 years ago. That trusty old iPod was getting old from overuse.
One of the main reasons I decided to get a new iPod was because, being an intense music lover, I needed more memory space. My old iPod nano only had 2 GB of memory. Translation: it held roughly around 500 songs. So I got the latest and greatest 5th generation of the iPod nano. It has 8 GB of memory, or holds roughly around 2,000 songs.
The latest generation of the iPod nanos comes with a selection of 8 GB or 16 GB of memory and a wide variety of color selections. They come in pink, purple, orange, silver, black, you name it. My color of choice? Orange.
One of this iPod’s most notable features is its video camera and radio. The video camera is fun to play around with, but has no zoom (at least as far as I can tell). I haven’t really used the radio, but I have noticed it will only work with headphones plugged it. The headphones act as some kind of antenna.
One of my personal favorite features is the built-in speakers. I can play music out loud on my iPod without needing any type of speakers or docking station. Of course most of the time I find myself using my headphones so I won’t make a lot of noise, but I like to play the music out loud in the privacy of my home.
One other feature on this iPod is the games. I’m not much of a gamer, but I will play around with the games on my iPod if I’m bored. Its three selections of games include Klondike, Maze, and Vortex. Klondike is, I believe, basically Hearts. It’s a simple card game that I can understand how to play. Maze, on the other hand, is confusing and hard to figure out how to play. Vortex is where you have a little ball you rotate around a big circle. I find it strangely addictive.
This nifty little iPod may not be able to take the endless selection of applications that the iTunes store has become notorious for. It may not have email or Facebook access, but I think it’s a fun little iPod that comes at a reasonable price. The average price for it is $150 at stores, however, I got mine off of Ebay for $130. I recommend this iPod for anyone looking for a fun little iPod that won’t burn a hole in your wallet.
